Finance
CF Industries is a publicly held (NYSE) company having its principal operations in North America. The company also has joint ventures conducting business on six continents. CF Industries makes significant capital investments in property, plant and equipment to maintain current operations and provide opportunities for expansion. In the past four years, we successfully have executed two major acquisitions including the $4.5 billion acquisition of Terra Industries. CF Industries is one of the largest industrial purchasers of natural gas buying approximately 720,000 MMbtu per day.
Information Technology
CF Industries relies on technology to provide information for business analytics, efficient product manufacture and movement, and accounting from order placement to payment. In 2011 CF Industries began implementation of SAP as its Enterprise Resource System (ERP), which provides a stable platform on which to integrate business processes and establishes a foundation for future IT projects to support continued company growth.
The Information Technology team blends the talents of several different groups. The Data Architecture and Technical Services groups create the structure from a corporate-wide view to improve the functionality and integration of our systems and data. The Application Development and Business Analysis groups interpret the business process needs and translate that information into technical solutions. The Enterprise Services group takes care of the technology that keeps our network running and the Enterprise Support center assists and supports all systems users.
Sales
CF Industries sells nitrogen and phosphate fertilizer products to wholesalers, retailers, commodity traders, and industrial users around the world. We manufacture and sell more than 15 million tons of plant nutrients to customers in the North America, South America, Europe and Asia. As fertilizer is a global commodity, our sales organization analyzes information from around the world to determine short and long term supply and demand patterns to develop product, distribution, sales and pricing strategies. Our fertilizer is used primarily to increase farmers’ yields so that the food supply can meet the increasing needs of our growing world population. Additionally, our products are used by the transportation and energy industries to provide for cleaner emissions from automobiles, trucks and power plants.
Supply Chain
CF Industries’ supply chain group manages raw materials procurement, multi-modal product transportation and supply/demand optimization. Each year the function procures significant amounts of natural gas, sulfur and ammonia. CF Industries uses an extensive distribution network of barge, rail, truck and pipeline to transport product. The flexible manner in which product movement is managed allows us to excel at serving our customers in a variety of changing conditions.
