Giving back to our communities is a priority at CF, and the donation from our distribution terminal in Ritzville, Washington is just one example of how we give back. In 2015, our Ritzville terminal awarded 14 classroom minigrants to teachers in the Lind-Ritzville areas for a variety of projects, focused on enhancing the learning experience for local students.

Ritzville Terminal superintendent Dennis Schilling presented checks to  Lind-Ritzville teachers through our Classroom Minigrants Program. The donations will be used to fund classroom projects dedicated to a variety of topics, such as environmental awareness and agricultural production.

The $4,335 donation will be used to help students learn about the growth cycle of plants and crops, for teachers to purchase books on water quality and to enable students to learn about the environmental impact of industry and agriculture. The purpose of these donations is to connect students with their environment and to encourage them to be engaged in environmental and agriculture education, regardless of age or grade, with the student beneficiaries ranging from preschool to high school.

Ritzville Terminal has been part of the community since 1983 and has been part of the minigrant program since its inception in 1998. We have also donated more than $77,000 to support public safety, education and youth development organizations in the greater Ritzville community.

“Working with educators in the Lind-Ritzville schools to provide students with new exciting opportunities focused on agriculture and the environment has been one of our best investments,” says Schilling. “It is exciting to see what innovative education opportunities the teachers come up with for their students.”

We are proud to contribute to our local communities and schools, and we look forward to working with Ritzville teachers in the future!
